I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror, staring at my reflection as I washed my hands. Instinctively, and with a bit of a smile, I raised my cupped soapy hands. Then I moved my palms apart as I blew gently between, creating a large bubble, which popped against the mirror. It was something I hadn’t done since bubble contests in the second grade bathroom, though it felt as natural to me as if I’d done it every day since.
As I stared at my reflection, slightly obscured by the soapy residue which still dripped from my unrinsed hands, it made me think. Parts of my life are really no different than bubbles. Some are lovingly created, cradled, protected until their ends. Some are made in haste and pop just as quickly. Some are so large it seems as if they will never finish being made. Some end weakly even before they leave my hands. But the lucky few are of perfect size; they are caught by a light breeze and carried above and beyond me. When I am blowing bubbles, if even one makes this category, I can stand back and smile to know that I’ve done at least one right. So when I created this WebPage, I decided to look through the last few years of my life to find the special events. Here, you will discover some of the things that have sculpted me, and have been the most meaningful to me over the years. These are the things I hope will continue with me through the years, and the things that have gone above and beyond me to the world around. ![]() |
