Celtic Festivals

Various Dates:
I attended my first Celtic festival during freshman year of high school and was completely overpowered with happiness. The songs I knew by heart, the tartans I knew by name, the stories I’d been researching for years all right there in front of me. It was like a little piece of the Celtic world in Virginia, and that was just the beginning. I’ve been to almost twenty now, and they never fail to fill me with excitement. I know the local music groups’ lineups by now, and know which groups to avoid. And though I enjoy the music the most, I've branched out to many other activities. I sit in on Robert Burns poetry sessions, and weaving demonstrations. I even attend a few story-telling sessions at the kiddie tent because there is such an art to it, and one of my characters is a traditional story-teller. I can easily say that attending Scottish festivals is one of the joys of each year and no matter how many I attend, I will never be tired of them.
